John Mayer!

For the first time in my life I paid AUD$90+ for a ticket to see a musician play live. It was for April 12th which was a long awaited date considering I bought the ticket in November the year before.

And it was all for John Mayer. We had great seats, we could see everything except facial expressions. I only wished that my camera had better zoom lens. The crowd was amazing and so was John.

He commented on the clever signage where fans had constructed stop signs with a picture of a train in reference to ‘Stop this Train’ from Continuum. A fan from the back yelled ‘Bring it baby!’ to which he improvised mid-song ‘I’m staying right here.’

It was what I’d expected after watching ‘Any Given Thursday’. A mix of pop and blues. A whole lot of jamming and strange dance moves. A respectful crowd there to bop their heads and sing with him.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t trying to spot Jessica Simpson in the crowd, but with no luck.

Geocaching Weekend

I first heard about Geocaching from Josh Leo‘s video blog. Ever since, I’ve been looking for an opportunity but GPS units selling in the three digit price range, it wasn’t an option.

I was mentioning geocaching to Derek, a work colleague of mine who got himself a GPS unit. I must have sounded really enthusiastic because unprompted, he lent me his GPS unit.

So during the Easter weekend, Jim and I plotted to find caches around Orange and Parkes. Out of 12 caches, we found 11, not bad for first timers. Two caches in particular had us in tears.

We had to visit it two to three times, searching high and low, trying not to look suspicious to passer-bys and residents. We played with a dinosaur and race car in our first every cache, left a hideous little orange monster in another and took a geocoin for relocation.

I think I’m hooked and I can’t wait to help this coin keep travelling around Australia.
